The distillery, dubbed “The Studio,” is where South Florida Distillers gets down. “We are young and so is this startup,” which is why these guys are starting small while they perfect their craft. Just because they have small-scale equipment familiar to most moonshiners, doesn’t mean it isn’t sophisticated. They have designed their own custom controllers for each still with all the bells and whistles (seriously… lights, buzzers, retina scans). They call themselves “Sunshiners,” using old school techniques with modern technology.
Kandi and Pixie are SFD’s strippers. These 26-gallon pot stills are used to strip the fermented molasses of all the alcohol. The stripped alcohol is loaded into a 13-gallon finisher to be distilled into the best rum across the universe.
